Types:

Shubunkins are categorized into three distinct varieties based on their tail shape:

Care Requirements

Tank/Pond Size:

• Shubunkins are active swimmers and grow large, requiring ample space.
• A pond of at least 180 gallons or a large aquarium (starting around 30 to 40 gallons) is necessary per fish.

Water Parameters:

• Thrive in cold to temperate freshwater and can handle temperature fluctuations.
• Prefer well-filtered, hard water with a pH range between 6.5 and 7.5.

Diet:

• Active omnivores that will happily accept:
  • High-quality commercial goldfish pellets or flakes.
  • Frozen/live treats like bloodworms or brine shrimp.
