Hoplisoma panda (formerly Corydoras panda) is a popular, peaceful freshwater catfish native to Peru. Recognizable by its creamy body, bold black eye-stripes, and dark dorsal fin, this active, schooling bottom-dweller reaches 4–5 cm and thrives in social groups of 5+ in planted community tanks.

Diet

They are omnivorous scavengers that will eat almost anything that sinks to the bottom. To keep them healthy, offer a varied diet including:

Behavior

• Schooling: They are highly social and must be kept in groups of at least 5 to 6; otherwise, they become stressed and shy.
• Surface Breathing: Like other members of its subfamily, this fish is an intestinal air-breather and will occasionally dart to the surface to gulp air. This is normal, though frequent darting can indicate poor water quality.
