Cryptocoryne Wendtii Mi-oya

Cryptocoryne wendtii 'Mi Oya' is a hardy, textured aquatic rosette plant native to the Mi Oya River in Sri Lanka. It features long, slender, ruffled leaves ranging from olive green to deep bronze-red and thrives in low-to-medium light without requiring CO₂ injection.

Care and Requirements

• Difficulty: Easy, excellent for beginners.
• Placement: Midground in medium tanks, or as a feature plant in smaller setups.
• Lighting: Low to moderate; brighter light encourages horizontal growth and deeper red-brown tones.
• Temperature: 22°C–28°C (72°F–82°F); keep stable to avoid melting.
• Water Parameters: pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard water.
• Substrate: Requires a nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs, as it feeds heavily through its roots.

Special Characteristics

• Growth Habit: Grows 20–35 cm tall with rosettes spreading 15–30 cm wide.
• Emersed Growth: Adapts easily to terrariums and paludariums with high humidity.
• Crypt Melt: May drop leaves when relocated or subjected to severe parameter/temperature swings, but recovers reliably.
• Propagation: Spreads naturally via underground runners producing new plantlets.
