Celestial Pearl Danio

Discovered in Myanmar in 2006, the Celestial Pearl Danio (Danio margaritatus), also known as the galaxy rasbora, is a tiny, striking freshwater fish. With its dark blue body adorned with pearl-like spots and bright orange-red fins, this fish is a favorite among aquarists.

Appearance and Size

• Length: Grows to about 2 to 2.5 cm (0.8 to 1.0 inch).
• Colors: Features a deep midnight-blue or metallic blue body covered in white or yellow spots, complemented by vivid red and black striped fins.
• Gender Differences: Males are brighter blue with bold red/black fins, while females are duller with transparent or yellowish-white bellies and anal fins.

Habitat and Care

• Tank Size: Requires a minimum of 40 liters (10 gallons) for a small group.
• Water Conditions: Thrives in temperatures between 20–26°C (68–79°F) and slightly alkaline to neutral pH levels (6.5–7.5).
• Behavior: Peaceful, active, and social micro-fish that should be kept in schools of 8 to 10 or more to reduce shyness.

Diet

• Omnivorous: Accepts high-quality micro-pellets, crushed flakes, and live or frozen foods such as baby brine shrimp.
