Big Banded Pleco - L140

The L140 Big Banded Pleco (Peckoltia sp.), also known as the Big Band Tiger Pleco, is a stunning small-to-medium South American catfish. Native to Brazil's Rio Tapajós and Rio Xingu basins, it grows to a maximum length of 10–14 cm. Its striking appearance is highlighted by dark brown or black bands over a beige-to-yellow body.

Care and Habitat

Tank Size:

• Minimum of 80–100 litres.

Water Temperature:

• Maintain between 26–30°C.

Water pH:

• Ideal range is 5.5–7.0.

Setup:

• Use soft sand or fine gravel as substrate.
• Include smooth river rocks and plenty of driftwood or bogwood for hiding spots.

Temperament:

• Peaceful and community-safe.
• Can be territorial towards other bottom-dwelling fish in confined spaces.

Diet

Type:

• Omnivore.

Foods:

• High-quality sinking algae wafers and bottom-feeder tablets.
• Frozen foods like bloodworms or brine shrimp.
• Fresh vegetables such as courgette/zucchini.
