Betta - Super Delta Male

A male Super Delta Betta is a variation of Betta splendens, featuring a wide, fan-shaped caudal fin that spreads past 120 degrees (often nearing a 180-degree halfmoon spread) but lacks the full symmetrical semi-circle definition of a true Halfmoon. They display brilliant colors and must be housed singly.

Physical Characteristics & Identification

• Tail Spread: Ranging from 120 to close to 180 degrees when flared, wider than a standard delta tail.
• Size: Grows up to 6–7.5 cm (2.5–3 inches).
• Colors: Available in endless variations including solid hues, koi, dragon scale, butterfly, and metallic.
• Fin Elegance: Long, flowing fins require careful tank layouts to avoid tearing.

Care Requirements

• Tank Size: Minimum of 20 to 30 litres (5 gallons).
• Water Temperature: Tropical range of 24°C–28°C (75°F–82°F).
• Water Chemistry: pH between 6.0 and 7.5.
• Diet: Carnivorous; thrives on high-protein betta pellets, frozen or live bloodworms, and brine shrimp.

Temperament & Tank Mates

• Solitary Living: Highly territorial and aggressive toward other male bettas; must be kept alone.
• Community Options: Can sometimes live with extremely peaceful, non-fin-nipping tank mates (like certain snails or shrimp) if the tank is large and heavily planted, though keeping them solo is safest.
