When keeping freshwater fish and plants, the general hardness (GH) and carbonate hardness (KH) of aquarium water should match their natural habitat.
This product tests tap water and freshwater aquarium water for alkalinity and also:
- General hardness (GH) which is the measure of dissolved calcium and magnesium ion concentrations, and
- Carbonate hardness (KH) being the measure of dissolved carbonate and bicarbonate ion concentrations.
For Fresh water aquariums this prioduct also
- Helps detect stress on fish caused by rapid pH shifts which result from low KH levels, and
- Helps aquarists duplicate the natural habitat of their fish, thereby providing a healthy aquarium environment.
