The Adolfoi Cory (Corydoras adolfoi) is a peaceful, schooling freshwater catfish native to Brazil's Rio Negro basin. Renowned for its striking appearance, this fish features a pale body adorned with a prominent orange-yellow head patch, a black eye mask, and a black dorsal stripe. It is a highly sought-after addition to community aquariums but is relatively expensive.
Care Level:
Moderate. They thrive in soft, acidic "blackwater" conditions with subdued lighting and frequent water changes to maintain low nitrate levels.
Temperament:
Extremely peaceful. As bottom-dwellers, they are perfect for community tanks.
Tank Mates:
Best kept with other small, peaceful fish such as tetras, pencilfish, and rasboras.
Diet:
Omnivorous. They require a mix of high-quality sinking pellets, flakes, and live or frozen foods (like brine shrimp and worms).
