Acid-washed Seiryu Rock
Acid-washed Seiryu rock is a popular grey limestone aquascaping stone treated with a mild acid bath to etch away soft surface calcite. This process:
- Deepens the charcoal and blue-grey tones.
- Heightens contrast against white veining.
- Slightly reduces the stone's immediate tendency to spike aquarium pH and hardness.

Water Chemistry Impact
- Leaching Minerals: Seiryu stone is calcium carbonate-based and still raises general hardness (GH), carbonate hardness (KH), and pH.
- Reduced Rate: While acid-washing etches the immediate reactive outer layer, the stone will still buffer water upward, often stabilizing around a pH of 7.6 to 7.9.
- Best Suited For: Hardwater setups, African cichlids, livebearers, or Neocaridina shrimp rather than softwater blackwater tanks.
